There's a paradox here, and it's hurting our cause. Rightwingers scream that single-payer Medicare for All takes away freedoms of patients and doctors. In fact, the opposite is true (natch).
...But how to counter the rightwing argument in simple, intuitive ways?
Aotearoa New Zealand has a great system where almost all healthcare is almost completely free. When diagnosed with a serious disease we worry about the illness, not how to pay for it. It's a simple system with little to no paperwork- it's run by the government & paid by taxes. Take the profit motive out of the equation & focus changes to the patient.
Thanks for sharing how well New Zealand's healthcare system works. New Zealand is a good example of how a community can accomplish so much when the desire is present.
Thanks Maureen. I made good use of your notes on the UHCC. Happy 4th to you. Hopefully we can move things forward.
Thanks for your take on healthcare freedom. Here's a generally similar one I published, August 2020: https://medium.com/@idember/9-freedoms-of-healthcare-justice-5077bdbff9f2

Happy 4th to you, Alan. Thanks for carrying water and chopping wood on this urgent need for healthcare for all.
