New Treatment for Ovarian Cancer
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on 3/22/2024 it had granted traditional approval for AbbVie's (ABBV.N) "guided missile" cancer therapy, Elahere, for patients with a type of ovarian cancer. Elahere was approved for adult patients with a type of cancer which affects the ovaries, fallopian tube, or walls of the abdomen, and have received one to three prior lines of treatment, according to the FDA.(Reuters)
Mifepristone at the Supreme Court
The U.S. Supreme Court will take up a case on 3/26/2024 that could impact how women get access to mifepristone, one of the two pills used in the most common type of abortion in the nation. The central dispute in the case is whether the Food and Drug Administration overlooked serious safety problems when it made mifepristone easier to obtain, including through mail-order pharmacies.
IMHO - Bogus case brought by doctors who were in no way injured to a shopped “judge” in Texas who was an avowed anti-abortionist for God.
ACTION
Remind Congress to fix this pass the H.R. 767/S.4467 - Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act because 63% of abortions use this medication safely. Their contact info is in the Resources section below or use

“I am your constituent and I want you to actively support and enact H.R. 767/S.4467 - Protecting Access to Medication Abortion Act because 63% of abortions use this medication and it is safer than Tylenol. How about a statement in public while SCOTUS thinks about taking more rights away? BTW the same arguments used in the Mifepristone case can deny access to many other life saving drugs and vaccines.”
Universal Health Care and Health Care
Here is a link to a video by Leigh McGowan, “Politics Girl”. She is a pro democracy advocate who seeks to hold those in authority accountable - all good. However, this video highlights her personal medical issue. She has a deadly lung condition her medications are expensive. Without health insurance she will die because eventually she would not be able to afford the medications.
She is glad to have an Affordable Care Act Plan (ACA) so she get’s to live. There is a political difference in this country centered on Healthcare.
Democrats favor making sure that people have access to healthcare. Some like the ACA. Many like expanding Medicaid and over half of them in the House of Representatives favor Single Payer Universal Healthcare (HR 3421).
Republicans favor cancelling the ACA and restricting Medicaid. There are some exceptions but not many. Without the ACA, if people lose their health insurance and are sick, a new health insurance policy will be unavailable due to pre-existing conditions. They will be in Politics Girl’s position. In fact this is similar to what happened in T.R. Reid’s book, The Healing of America. There, a young woman with Lupus on Medicaid, could not get life saving medicine because her state’s Medicaid program didn’t want to supply it and so she died.
There is a name for this - it is medical eugenics. If you aren’t smart enough or rich enough to pay for medical care, then you should be allowed to die. I know it sounds absurd but it is spoken about in quiet by many who claim to be “conservatives”. I first heard about it from Rep. Adam Schiff, when I was his constituent.
Spread the Word
Word to the wise - elections are coming - make sure that people know that one party favors health insurance of some kind, the other doesn’t care too much, about insurance or people.

“If they would rather die, they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population.” —Ebenezer Scrooge.
Many Republicans have Empathy Deficit Disorder (EDD). As you point out, it's lethal — but not to the Republican. A less clinical description: R's are assholes. (R) doesn't stand for Republican, it stands for Rectal.
That said: many Dems are not on board with cost-saving, life-saving M4A. Pure political expediency. And lest we forget, the Dem administration failed to extend the life-saving income and health coverage of 2021-22. Millions of families lost coverage.
