Chris Hayes, a historian on MSNBC, had a program yesterday on lifespan in the United States. Here is a link to the YOUTUBE recording. In it he identifies how France’s Life span is now around 82 and the US has shrunk to 76.
All countries suffered life span declines due to the pandemic (ours was worse than most), our peer industrialized nation’s lifespans are now all on the increase but ours is still declining. Universal healthcare and trust in that system is the main reason for the recovery elsewhere and lack of it is the cause for the decline here.
President Biden will hold a State of the Union speech Tuesday February 7, 2023. We need to let him know that the declining US lifespan is inconsistent with our position as the most powerful and richest nation on Earth and we want him to address this with an executive committee NOW.

President Biden,
Life expectancy here and in our industrialized peer nations experienced declines due to the pandemic. However, according to recent studies, documented in Chris Hayes’ “All In”, last week (
) our peer nations life spans are now increasing and ours is still in decline. We are the most powerful and richest nation on Earth. THIS SHOULD NOT BE. I want you to commission an executive committee to investigate the root causes and identify the fixes. It seems to me that the lack of universal health care and a distrust of public health measures are a cause. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS IN THE STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH. Thank you.
