Budget Bill Passes Senate
Medicaid cuts - 13 million to lose health insurance and 51,000 to die needlessly every year and expect 200 hospitals to shutter shortly leaving communities without healthcare.
SNAP - nutrition assistance - cuts will take food away from 11.8 million every month - including children.
We are not becoming a third world country we are reverting to a time in the late 1800’s when so-called robber baron industrialists ruled and workers were without unions or safety protections. Education was for those who could afford it and children were forced into work early to help families eat.
Each one of the things I mentioned above Republicans have made reality, including removing protections for child labor. We will need to resist and make sure to vote out those that have taken these hateful actions against their constituents.
ACTION
HERE is a link to see how your senator voted.
If your senator voted against the bill call and tell them thank you.
If they voted for it then call and tell them how ashamed of them you are for cutting healthcare taking food from children and closing hospitals.

CDC Walks Away From Birth Control Advice - Millions Are Now At Risk
Most women of reproductive age in the U.S. use contraception. CDC data from 2019, the most recent available, shows that more than 47 million women ages 15 to 49 relied on birth control. About 1 in 10 used long-acting methods such as intrauterine devices and implants; 1 in 7 used oral contraception.
A small team of people at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention worked to issue national guidelines for clinicians on how to prescribe contraception safely for millions of women with underlying medical conditions — including heart disease, lupus, sickle cell disease, and obesity. But the Department of Health and Human Services, which oversees the CDC, fired those workers as part of the Trump administration’s war against the federal workforce.
This advice was regularly updated as we learned more about what was safe. Here is an example: The 2024 guidelines also for the first time included birth control recommendations for women with chronic kidney disease. Research has shown that such women are at higher risk of serious pregnancy complications, including preeclampsia and preterm delivery. Their medical condition also increases their risk of blood clots, which is why it’s important for them not to use combined hormonal contraception
It also decimated the CDC’s larger Division of Reproductive Health, where the team was housed — a move that clinicians, advocacy groups, and fired workers say will endanger the health of women and their babies.
Clinicians said in interviews that counseling patients about birth control and prescribing it is relatively straightforward. But for women with conditions that put them at higher risk of serious health complications, special care is needed.
“We really were the only source of safety monitoring in this country,” said one fired CDC staffer who worked on the guidelines, known as the U.S. Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Use, or MEC. “There’s no one who can actually do this work.” (KFF)
I am not interested in the reason the Trump and his appointees did this - I am only interested in the result. The result is a vicious and hateful agency no longer tasked with providing medical advice but willing to allow women to die for lack of advice.
ACTION
Call your Congressional representatives and senators and let them know that women with serious medical conditions who want contraception are now at risk unless
Or Text SIGN PLEENS to 50409 (@Resistbot on Apple Messages, Messenger, Instagram, or Telegram) to send this message to your congressperson and senators -
“I want you to know that the government office at HHS that advised doctors on the best contraception protocols for millions of women with serious and chronic health conditions is closed. 47 million women in the U.S. use contraception and millions of them have a chronic condition where the wrong contraception can quickly lead to blood clots and death. Doctors relied on this regularly updated guidance to make sure their patients were safe and now Trump, and RFK, Jr. and Dr, Battacharaya have closed this office.
You couldn’t scream “Women Don’t Matter” any louder. I want you to get that office back to work at the CDC. I don’r Care if it requires targeted legislation, women have every right to expect that their doctor’s can have access to the best information to keep patients safe. I expect you to act on this now.”

It is incomprehensible to me that women are being shoved back in time. I thought Dobbs was as atrocious as it could get—but I was wrong. Having fought since the 60’s to secure reproductive rights, I’m very sad to see the country in worse shape now.
